Last month, we shared how to build a Summer Mode Plan, a way to keep the wheels turning while team members took a well-earned break. This month, we’re looking at what that slower pace revealed.
So, you’ve operated at half capacity, and it forced your business to be lean, with fewer hands-on deck and decision-makers away as a business you naturally prioritise.
And what’s left is… interesting.
You may have seen the cracks in
- Which processes hold up (even under pressure)
- Where information flow grinds to a halt
- Who’s really clear on roles and ownership and who’s quietly unsure
- What tasks create a lot of noise but very little movement
But you also see the strengths:
- The team member who quietly takes initiative
- The process that runs like clockwork, even without oversight
- The tech that saved you hours
- The decisions that didn’t need everyone in the room
The pressure makes priorities clearer.
So, what now? Before the noise picks back up, take some time to reflect on those earlier strengths and weaknesses that you’ve seen. We’re not saying you need to overhaul everything in August, you probably (most definitely) shouldn’t.
But before you rush into September’s strategies, take a minute to listen to what the summer slowdown showed you because sometimes, the gaps in the workflow aren’t a sign of failure they’re an invitation to improve!
